The Justice Action Network, the largest bipartisan organization working to reform the justice system across the country, issued the following statement on the signing of SB 120, bipartisan legislation introduced by Senator Whitney Westerfield and aimed at putting people to work and reducing crime. The bill had near-unanimous support in the House and the Senate:

Holly Harris, Executive Director of the Justice Action Network: We were honored to be a part of the ceremonial bill signing of the first step in reforming Kentucky’s justice system, but more importantly, we were excited to hear of Governor Bevin’s continued commitment to shifting the Commonwealth’s focus from jails to jobs. We remain grateful to Senator Whitney Westerfield for shepherding SB 120 to the Governor’s desk, and for his dedication to a safer Kentucky, and we look forward to working on the next phase of reform in the Commonwealth.”
