WASHINGTON – Today, Holly Harris, Executive Director of the Justice Action Network, the country’s largest organization dedicated to criminal justice reform at the federal and state level, issued the following statement congratulating Governor John Bel Edwards on his re-election.

“Tonight’s gubernatorial election in deep red Louisiana was perhaps the greatest test yet for criminal justice reform, and John Bel Edwards’ win was a resounding victory for the issue. Voters roundly rejected dishonest fearmongering, and made clear that justice reform is a winning issue for Republicans and Democrats alike. We congratulate Governor Edwards on his re-election, and we look forward to continuing our work with his administration and the Republican-controlled legislature to make Louisiana’s justice system smarter, fairer, and more effective.”
